Yooter Free Keyword Selection Tool

Today while working on a new report, Unlocking the Niche Code, I went to http://searchmarketing.yahoo.com/rc/srch and couldn’t locate the free keyword research tool.  (Possibly I just needed another cup of coffee).  It seemed Yahoo, since buying Overture, has decided to move things around.  So, being impatient I went to google and found another free keyword research tool provided by Youter.

Yooter InterActive Marketing, LLC is one of those success stories that make headlines every so often. The firm was started in late 2004/early 2005.  By 2006 Yooter had nearly a dozen employees and was growing at such a rapid pace that industry trade magazines and news sites were reporting on the breakneck speed of the companies growth. Between 2005-2006 the company client list included several NYSE and NASDAQ traded firms such as Primedia (NYSE:PRM) and AllScripts (NASDAQ:MDRX)

Yooter has two different options for researching keywords.  Both versions tell you how many times a keyword is typed in Yahoo! and MSN per month. It also allows you to export the keyword list in many formats.

1. No registration
http://www.yooter.com/keyword/overture.php

This tool uses the Overture / Yahoo! search marketing results. Yooter states they feel that it’s better to get a larger sample from both tools in order to actually get a better sample of the keyword search volume.

This keyword tool enables you to select from 16 different countries. Simply type in your query and select a country of your choice. The most searched for keywords per month will appear on the results page including their search count. This tool currently works with Yahoo and MSN. Google is not included in this currently, however from our research Yahoo and MSN combined are roughly the same amount of traffic as Google, so just double whatever figure is shown.

2. Registration Required
http://www.yooter.com/keyword

This tool gives you search volume estimates, similar to the Overture Keyword Selection tool.  The Yooter Keyword tool also gives you recommendations for alternative keywords as well.  The Yooter Keyword tool also does one thing that many enjoy, you can export to a .CSV file that opens in Microsoft Excel, Open Office or Google Spreadsheets. The Tool is free, and it’s free to register.

Yooter uses an API from Keyword Discovery. http://www.keyworddiscovery.com

As I read the line above I received an email from “Sales” with the subject Trellian Login Details.  So I had just registered with Trellian and can get a whopping 10 search results unless I upgrade :-)  So I figure that IF I upgrade then Yooter makes an affiliate commission.  No problem, I am actually kindof impressed how they marketed that.  However, they are lucky I didn’t just delete the confirmation email because it came from a different site than what I registered at.

I am having problems accessing the Non Registration Required link.  The search results page gives
Warning: fsockopen(): unable to connect to inventory.overture.com:80 in /home/yooterco/public_html/keyword/class/html.class.php on line 166

After all that, I think I would just prefer to use wordtrackers free tool because it at leasts gives you 100 results where Trellian is only giving 10

On another note, I mentioned at the beginning of this post that I was working a report, Unlocking the Niche Code.  In this report I will show you a method of finding a Market first that spends money, determining what they want and give it to them.  Once we have determined a niche is spending money and find out what they want we can either develope a product for them and sell it to them or recommend an affiliate product and earn commission.

I plan to have that report out before the finish of the new year.  The report will be Free and a rebrandable version will be available to registered users

Niche Inspector Brainstorming Feature Gives Lame Suggestions

I decided to try out the brainstorming function of Niche Inspector to seewhat kind of profitable niches I might come across.  Using thebrainstorming function of Niche Inspector I was provided with 25 keywords to work with

Roomba - The Roomba is a robotic vacuum cleaner made and sold byiRobot. TheRoomba was first released in 2002 with updates and new models released in
2003, 2004,2005,2006, and2007As of May 2006, over 2 million units have been sold.

This niche looks saturated as the highest KEI with the seed word of “Roomba”  as 22.1.  I have to admit this one keyword was a big distraction for me because of my past in digital electronics and robotics while at DeVry.  There is a book out on how to hack these robots you can learn more about here

diapers - Only has five possibilities with KEI over 100. Based on theprofitability indicated by the profitability indicated by the BroadMatch CPC values I wasn’t too excited …. The KEI on the seed word diapers is excellent but isn’t very specific.

measuring cups - total waste of time

halo combat evolved - only has 1,952 searches and that has been saturated
with a KEI of 1.21

baby booties - Well I thought that I might find something worthwhile here
but the KEI isn’t there.

potato peeler - hmm…

Well I am not excited with any of the ideas that the brainstorming feature of Niche Inspector provided me so I will be checking myWhat’s Hot Resources for some ideas on profitable niches or look at using some of the popular tags from Technorati

Ignoring KEI and Profitability is Painful

I was catching up on reading at Pat B. Doyle’s blog and came across some interesting statistics she was sharing regarding her Adsense earnings from her boring blog project.

I highly recommend reading her post along with the previous articles pertaining to how she built the blog.  This can be duplicated with any niche.

In her keyword research she utilizes Google Adwords Keyword Tool, Seobook Keyword Tool, Keyword Elite to find keywords that have a good KEI and are profitable.

For Content she uses content from Article Directories.

Here is a sniplet of what she writes:

Keep those dates in mind while looking at the table below. These are my AdSense earnings for the blog since I started it. Per Google’s terms of service, I am not allowed to give click-through rates or amounts per click.

Click Here To Read Entire Post

What caught my attention the most is in November with only 295 visitors she generated $11.49 in Google Adsense revenue.

NOTE: Per Google’s terms of service, She is not allowed to give click-through rates or amounts per click.

Now compare that to a few portals I did in the past prior to paying attention to KEI and profitability.

free electronics       259      $6.53
Hairloss Solutions  147       $5.53
BestFishingTips     2,080   $4.54

The Free Electronics portal is about half as effective as Pats Boring Blog Project, Hairloss Solutions is close (This portal was generated by Traffic Equalizer) and Best Fishing Tips you can read why it sucks here.

A Side Note About Traffic Equalizer

I mentioned the Hairloss Solutions  portal was built with Traffic Equalizer.  A word of caution, if you use this product be sure to integrate the resulting site with some articles.  The pure link farm search portal that Traffic Equalizer generates will initially do well until google deindex’s you.

Last year I had a Dog Accessories Portal which started pulling 7,000 impressions a day and earned over $900 in google adsense over a 4 day period.  Them BAM, it dropped to $5 a day when they pulled the plug and deindexed the entire domain.  You can see that old site here

I would love to hear feedback on Pat’s Article and my observations along with any personal experiences.

Regards,

David Riewe

3 Essentials of a Hot Niche Market

Sara Christensen over at Pajama Professional has an excellent article covering the three essentials of a Profitable Niche.

  1. High Demand
  2. Low Supply
  3. Profitability Potential

She makes her references to the report How to Uncover Red-Hot Niches With A Simple Step-By-Step Formula by Myleena Pham which you can download here

Sara also gives some additional tips on finding Hot Niches not covered in the report

Another great way to check profit potential, not mentioned in the Red-Hot Niches report is Clickbank. Clickbank has some great stats available. You can check price, commission, conversion, even how much of the profits are returned by affiliates. Even if you aren’t planning on referring someone else’s product, you can still use these numbers to determine whether or not there is an interest in the topic. If there are products in the niche selling well on Clickbank, then chances are related products are selling well elsewhere too.

Profitable Treadmill Niche Shows Great Potential

In todays Profitable Niche report we are looking at the seed word “treadmill“.  Treadmill itself had over 235,578 searches and google reports 9,240,000 pages matching that search.  There are 52 Google Adword competitors bidding for “treadmill” and the Exact Match CPC they are paying is $4.68 - %5.85 per click.

There are quite a few promising profitable niches I see in this report.

sole treadmill

The most profitable key phrase based on the Exact Match CPC is sole treadmill where PPC advertisers are paying $30.31 - $37.88 a click.  The number of searches for sole treadmill is 3,630 with 25,900 pages in google matching that request.  This yields a KEI of 508, which isn’t the highest, however it is well above 100 which is one of the requirements I look for when considering a search term to go after.  With the high payout of $30.31 - $37.88 this is my favorite.

buying treadmill

The next most profitable keyphrase is buying treadmill with advertisers paying $8.37 - $10.46 a click.  This is a much smaller niche than buying treadmill with only 1,265, However the KEI is 3,030.73 and there are only 528 pages in google matching.  It would be much easier to rank high on buying treadmill than buying treadmill with the trade off being less searches and less pay per click.

bowflex treadmill

bowflex treadmill is just below bowflex treadmill in profitability with advertisers paying %8.06 - $10.07 a click.  bowflex treadmill offers a larger amount of searches at 9,137 searches and 50,100 matching pages resulting in a KEI of 1,666.36.

Quality Content: A Low Cost, High Quality Approach To Unique Content

Ok so you have you have found a hot niche but now you need content.  I recently learned of a new service called Quality Content, by Jonathan Leger thanks to a review posted by Dane Morgan on his blog

Here is an excerpt from his review

Quality Content is the newest brain child of Jonathan Leger. Jonathan has put out a few of what I consider highly innovative sites recently. If I’m honest I think a couple of them have issues that prevent me from getting in on them, but even the ones I’m not into are flat out innovative. But his newest offering is simply amazing.

I have used other products by Jonathan Leger in the past and am currently using his Real Traffic Exchange.  I have nothing but praise for his products, they are high quality and truly work.

I signed up for the Quality Content and have already made good use of it.
