What's in a Name? Tips on Picking Your Fantasy Football Team Name

Fantasy football, more than anything, is about having fun. It's your way of pushing your love of the game further and have more excuses to bow out of other appointments and dates just to check out the weekly stats. And yes, there's your bragging rights in case you win the championship or even reach the finals as a newbie. But wait have you picked a name for your fantasy football team?

Why picking a name matters

You need to be careful here. Picking names is like having a tattoo. It tends to be permanent and can get under your skin, especially if you make a silly mistake early on.

Imagine winning the league championship and having your team name plastered all over the place, appearing on your league website and getting engraved on your championship trophy. Would you still be proud of that team name years from now or would you hide that trophy under your floorboards so your grandchildren wouldn't know their cool granddad once stumbled upon himself in the search for a perfect moniker?

So to give you an idea of what to name your fantasy football team, here are a few samples that some of the more creative members of today's fantasy leagues have come up with. Take a cue:

Animal instincts

What says strength and toughness better than a magnificent animal? Naming your team after a known predator sends a message: I prey on the weak. Some samples:
