Profitable Treadmill Niche Shows Great Potential

In todays Profitable Niche report we are looking at the seed word “treadmill“.  Treadmill itself had over 235,578 searches and google reports 9,240,000 pages matching that search.  There are 52 Google Adword competitors bidding for “treadmill” and the Exact Match CPC they are paying is $4.68 - %5.85 per click.

There are quite a few promising profitable niches I see in this report.

sole treadmill

The most profitable key phrase based on the Exact Match CPC is sole treadmill where PPC advertisers are paying $30.31 - $37.88 a click.  The number of searches for sole treadmill is 3,630 with 25,900 pages in google matching that request.  This yields a KEI of 508, which isn’t the highest, however it is well above 100 which is one of the requirements I look for when considering a search term to go after.  With the high payout of $30.31 - $37.88 this is my favorite.

buying treadmill

The next most profitable keyphrase is buying treadmill with advertisers paying $8.37 - $10.46 a click.  This is a much smaller niche than buying treadmill with only 1,265, However the KEI is 3,030.73 and there are only 528 pages in google matching.  It would be much easier to rank high on buying treadmill than buying treadmill with the trade off being less searches and less pay per click.

bowflex treadmill

bowflex treadmill is just below bowflex treadmill in profitability with advertisers paying %8.06 - $10.07 a click.  bowflex treadmill offers a larger amount of searches at 9,137 searches and 50,100 matching pages resulting in a KEI of 1,666.36.

that’s really nice how you go into detail on how you choose a niche word, now that you have identified the phrases, what would your next step be?

Hi Andy, thank you for your comments. Before answering I also wanted to say thanks for writing CommentLuv, it is an awesome plugin :-)

Let me use the treadmill keyword for an example. Seeing that the PPC advertisers are paying up to 30 a click for “sole treadmill” I would work on developing a series of posts where I could use sole treadmill as part of the title and reference it within the post. A review of the sole treadmill and possibly a story on buying my own sole treadmill.

Then I would go to the search engines and search for the following (you will like this )

“This blog uses the CommentLuv plugin” sole treadmill

In this case that pulls no results so I broaden the search

“This blog uses the CommentLuv plugin” treadmill

This gives me 109 matches that I can go read and contribute comments to. (And I will be checking those out later after I finish visiting all the cool posts that matched the term “niche” :-)

Another tip I saw from Jack Humphreys Friday Traffic Report http://www.jackhumphrey.com/ is to search for your search term with the word trackback and write reviews on the posts.

I would also use that search term as a tag when socializing the posts.

I noticed you work with the lottery. I am doing some work on the machine I use to do all my analysis with but will run a report on lottery and lotto and let you know what I see and give you specific examples (unless I decide to join the lotto affiliate program, then I need them for myself ) j/k.

    Regards,

    David

I’ve had a treadmill site for a few years and it does amazing in December and January and dies for the rest of the year.

google trends shows that also http://www.google.com/trends?q=treadmill and so do my earnings.

for sure a seasonal play with treadmills in my opinion.

Thanks for link to google trends. It does appear that the search volume doubles around December and January.

When you say it dies outside that period are you seeing the traffic die or sales die? Even though the traffic drops by 1/2 during the off holiday season it would be interesting to see if there are still PPC marketers going after search terms in that niche during those periods.

If there are then that indicates there is still money to be made, just have to target the profitable search terms.

It is very ironic that I found this post by looking for: “This blog uses the CommentLuv plugin” affiliate.
I will have to check out Jack Humphrey’s post also.

I recently bought a treadmill & a recumbent exercise bike for less than $1000 so I think that this niche will continue to grow as the market gets cheaper & people can afford to build home gyms much more easily.

Funny, but Treadmill is not a word I would have came up with.

On the other hand there are 0 searches for “How to Mail a Zebra” - and example I used in a class. I am going to start plugging it in as a tag on my blog posts, just to show how high it can go.

I agree with Mark about this being a seasonal niche. The trick there is to get a site up and aged well before the season starts and you will be golden. This trick can be applied to many niches.

I found this little post quite intriguing, who knew treadmills could be so lucrative? On another note, I’ve found that broad based keywords on PPC end up costing significantly less than using exact phrase matches. Anyone else experience this also? Kind of goes against conventinal wisdom surely?

Thanks for your post ‘Profitable Treadmill Niche Shows Great Potential’. Yes, it seems that in spite of all the modern advances and new technology, treadmills still remain one of the most popular pieces of fitness equipment. They are familiar, simple to use and you also have the folding option. So, these terms will probably remain profitable for some time to come…
